100th Post Giveaway

In honor of my 100th post, I am giving away a really nice book - hardly used at all. I bought it new when I was really into bookbinding, but have since began making books using folding or the BindItAll, so this book has just been sitting on the shelf watching and no doubt feeling left out.

Keith is THE big name in bookbinding and this book is one of his best, IMHO. There are lots of easy to follow illustrations of his methods and more than 300 pages including the reference section.

I'd like to give this book a good home. To win this book, just leave a comment telling me what you will do/make if you win. Be sure to leave some way for me to contact you.

Good luck! I will be selecting a winner using a random number generator on March 6th.

  1. What a generous offer! I am starting a small business (both my husband and I have lost our jobs) teaching and selling handmade books, journals and artist books. This is one book that I do not have and have been looking for something that would help me kick start this business.
BUT, blessings to whomever you pick...they WILL be the right one. Blessings on YOU for your generous spirit!

  2. Congratulations on your 100th post! I haven't tried bookbinding although I've been meaning to - I have lots of vintage French postcards that I think would make beautiful notebooks so that would be my project.

  4. Congratulations on your 100th post!! I'll be taking my first book-binding class next month. I've been waiting for the class to come back around. I'd love to have a chance to learn more skills, so that I could make differently bound books for each of my children, but it sounds like the poster above me *needs* this book.

  10. What a lovely and geneous way to mark this wonderful milestone. If I was lucky enough to be the one I would use this to make heritage journals to leave behind telling the story of my lineage.

  12. Congrats on making it to 100. At this point I don't think I will ever get there. I just don't do enough. As for the giveaway....I would love that book. I am so into creating my own journals. I did one and I love it. It was during a class and I have yet to create one on my own.

  15. Congratulations on your 100th Post. That's a milestone I will hope to meet. I also wish you well on your new business venture and hope that you and your husband find success ahead. For me, I'm trying to create my own business, too, and to work on creating books to house my poems, photos, memories of family and life, so I would put the giveaway book to use in those projects. Congratulations to whoever wins the book, though!! And again, what a great idea to pay it forward like this.

    Blessings to you,
    Nessa

  22. Congratulations on 100 posts! It's a great feeling, isn't it?

I LOVE binding my own sketchbooks, though I still have a couple of purchased ones to work through rather than waste them. Hand bound ones have so much more character; I use my art journal as an extension of my day, recording whatever is "right" at the time.

  37. I'd say 100 posts is a mighty successful blog! And, you are very generous to offer a book from your library as a giveaway. With the current financial situation in the world, giving anything away shows a committment to prosperity and kindness. Thank you for giving us a chance to own something special.

  38. How nice of you to offer this! And what would I do with it??? Well, as an Expressive Arts Therapist, I would have my clients create their own books to tell their own stories...I work with pregnant women & mothers in a substance abuse program and I feel passionately about them being able to share their experiences and stories of becoming empowered women.

And, hopefully you will be able to access my email address by logging in through blogger to leave this comment????

  39. What a great and generous giveaway! I am going in the other direction... I have a bind-it-all but want to do some traditional book binding too.

I have a large set of fabric pages from a challenge that I want to bind in a "special" way but don't know enough about book binding yet to attempt it. This book would really give me some great ideas and instruction!!

  42. Vicki-
What a generous way for you to celebrate. Know blogs can be hard to keep up with.
Bookmaking is addictive.....I know. I started some years back, and am still learning. Kinda like the addage, the more you know, the more you know you need to know. Keith Smith's books are like a Bible reference to bookbinders.
    Best, Cindy

  43. I'm with Frankye regarding your generosity. AND, since Frankye and I are friends, we would share the book. We are both journalers, and both of us want to learn to make our own journals. I have attempted a few in the past, but get stuck on the binding part. This book looks like it addresses those issues.

Congratulations on your 100th post, for sharing your blog, and for your generous offer.

I am glad you posted your blog address, now I have another one to look at when I am blog hopping - it is such fun - and there are so many talented artists. I am just getting into making books/altered books and this book would indeed be a really great information source. Please enter my name. Thank you.

  52. How nice of you! I am new to altered art and recently joined MIABA. Have not had a chance to attend any functions as of yet. Have made some altered pages but have only used "O" rings for binding. Want to learn more artful ways to bind my work and pass it on to my friends, who are also learning.
Thanks for your generosity and your consideration. I know you have a difficult choice.
